I Wasn't Prepared for 8/8: My Lions Gate Experience

I had completely forgotten about Lions Gate. But after a strange night, a chance conversation at the markets and another sleepless night, I certainly won't forget it again.

I wasn't prepared for what happened on Saturday night.

My sleep had been deteriorating for a few days beforehand, but I could think of a variety of things that might have caused it. On Friday night, I stayed up later than usual making bracelets for kids and then making cards to go with them. I thought perhaps I'd just pushed myself a bit too far.

I was OK on Saturday morning, although a little tired from the poor sleep, and I went to the Sandgate Markets as planned. What I had completely forgotten was the date. Saturday was August 8, 8/8, the peak of what is known spiritually and astrologically as the Lions Gate period.

Then, at around 11pm on Saturday night, things became very intense. I could feel what seemed like an enormous amount of energy flowing through my body and accumulating in my legs. They became numb, heavy and almost dead-feeling. I got out of bed and did my usual vagal nerve exercises, but they didn't make a whole lot of difference.

By morning, I had made the decision to stay home from the Tamborine Markets. Later in the day, at a much more civilised hour than I would normally arrive, I did go to the Northey Street Markets. While I was there, I ran into a friend of mine who is an amazing herbalist and whom I don't usually see at the market. I asked him how he was.

He said, "I feel very tired today. I just couldn't sleep last night. Something is going on."

That was my light-bulb moment! I had completely forgotten about 8/8.

My husband Lewis and my daughter Danielle don't experience the sensations that I experience. They aren't as physically sensitive to these things. But I believe there are many people who do experience something and often don't know what it is. For me, this experience was very real.

Last night, August 9 to 10, I woke again at around 2am as that familiar sensation began building in my legs. This time I decided to meditate. Through intention, I imagined sending "roots" deep into Mother Earth and releasing the excess energy through them. I focused on clearing my own energy and protecting my auric field. Afterwards, I managed to get a few more hours of sleep.

This morning I went outside, walked around the garden in my bare feet and watered everything while I was out there. And today I feel a lot better.

Whether other people experience Lions Gate the way I do or experience nothing at all, this weekend reminded me of something important: I need to listen when my body is telling me something and give myself permission to slow down.

Saturday probably wouldn't have felt quite so intense for me if I'd remembered 8/8 and prepared myself for it.

I can assure you of one thing. I won't forget again.
