There have been quite a few challenges in my life over the past few months. I suppose that happens to all of us from time to time, but I’ve noticed that as I’ve become older, I need to take a little more care of myself than I once did. I’m 76 now.
People often ask me at the markets how my skin looks so good, and the truth is… it’s not an accident.
I’ve taken reasonably good care of my skin since my twenties, although in my earlier years I certainly wasn’t perfect. Like many people, there were times I drank far too much alcohol, but I’ve also always believed in nutritious home-cooked food and a more natural lifestyle.
Over the years I’ve learned that consistency matters far more than perfection.
Recently I noticed that the skin beneath my right eye had started to sag a little. Interestingly, the left side was still quite firm, but I decided to use the same routine on both sides anyway.
This is the simple ritual I use most mornings.
First, I wash my face using a gentle cleanser and remove any residue with a warm face cloth.
Once my skin is clean, I rinse the face cloth thoroughly in warm water and place it gently over my face for a few minutes. I find the warmth softens the skin beautifully and helps prepare it for the next step.
I then smooth our Hyaluronic Acid Serum over my face and décolletage area and allow it to absorb fully.
After that comes the Moringa Oil.
For me, the two products work beautifully together. The Hyaluronic Acid Serum helps deeply hydrate the skin, while the Moringa Oil feels wonderfully nourishing and restorative.
Occasionally I still notice a slightly baggy area beneath my right eye, so I simply dab a little extra Hyaluronic Acid Serum onto that spot.
I rarely wear makeup these days, especially at the markets, but there have even been times I’ve gently dabbed a little serum over the area during the day.
It still amazes me how effective I find it.
I think one of the most important things I’ve learned about skincare as I’ve grown older is this: Beautiful skin rarely comes from one miracle product.
It comes from gentle daily care, consistency, nourishment, hydration, rest, and learning to care for ourselves kindly through every season of life.
And perhaps that’s what “Luv Your Age” has really always meant to me.
